Purpose
Doctor King® Premium Protective Face Masks are expertly designed with 5 layers of protection to help reduce the spread of viruses (including SARS-Coronavirus-2) and bacteria from one infected person to another when coughing, sneezing, talking, raising your voice or breathing. There are asymptomatic, presymptomatic and symptomatic carriers of SARS-Coronavirus-2, the virus that causes Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19).
These are suitable non-medical premium protective face masks for the following situations/settings:
- when outside your home in enclosed spaces where social distancing is difficult or cannot be achieved;
- on public transport (e.g. trains, buses, planes, taxis and private hire vehicles, enclosed spaces on ferries, bus stations, railway stations - including open air stations - and airports);
- for hospital visits or appointments;
- inside shops and supermarkets;
- in crowded places (social gatherings, mass gatherings, etc.);
- in close-contact (within 1 metre) settings during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends considering wearing a non-medical mask in other situations e.g. enclosed workplaces, schools for adults, colleges and universities, places of worship (e.g. churches, temples, mosques etc.) and for employees working in close-contact (within 1 metre) settings (e.g. social workers, cashiers and servers).
The UK Government recommends that medical masks are reserved for health professionals, who need them to protect themselves against risks in their workplace.

1. Five layers of protection. Unlike many other non-medical masks, which are made of a single layer of fabric, Doctor King® Premium Protective Face Masks are expertly designed and safely manufactured at an experienced mask factory with five layers of fabric, each of which has an important function:
• An external water-repellent layer made of non-woven fabric, which helps repel droplets or aerosols produced when another person coughs, sneezes, talks, raises their voice or breathes.
• An intermediate advanced microfilter made of two layers of premium meltblown non-woven fabric plus another superfilter. These collectively form a very high efficiency advanced microfilter with 99.5% bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE 99.5%) and 99.5% particle filtration efficiency (PFE 99.5%) in laboratory testing. The particles used in the laboratory testing were, on average, 0.075 micrometres or 75 nanometres in diameter. The average SARS-Coronavirus-2 microorganism is approximately 120 nanometres in diameter. The advanced microfilter is designed to filter droplets or aerosols, which may contain viruses or bacteria, produced when you or someone else coughs, sneezes, talks, raises their voice or breathes.
• An internal soft skin-friendly layer made of hypoallergenic non-woven fabric.
• The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendation is that "a minimum of three layers is required for non-medical masks".

These masks are not only sold in the UK, but also in the USA, Asia and beyond. These non-medical masks are rigorously tested and are compliant with UK Government General Product Safety Regulations (2005) as well as PRC Government Regulations (Standard GB 2626-2006) and have, therefore, been marked KN95. These are very high standards. GB 2626-2006 is the standard for non-medical KN95 masks. GB 19083-2010 is the standard for medical KN95 masks. CE marking is required for medical masks, but is not required for non-medical masks. These masks are excellent and are safe for general public use.

Did You Know?
Recent research by doctors called “Country-wide coronavirus mortality and use of masks by the public”, which was published online on April 22 2020 (Leffler et al, 2020), used data from 169 countries and reported that “countries in which the public wears masks have a lower coronavirus-related mortality than in non-mask wearing countries”. Countries in which mask usage has been widespread include Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and Mongolia. It became compulsory to wear masks in public in the Czech Republic on March 19 2020. The researchers found that in a population not wearing masks, the per-capita mortality tended to increase by 43% per week. On the other hand, in a population wearing masks, the per-capita mortality tended to increase by 2.8% per week. The researchers concluded “These results support the universal wearing of masks by the public to suppress the spread of the coronavirus. Mask-wearing should be adopted immediately, based on the precautionary principle.” Masks save lives.
